Steel Erection

Highlander installs all mechanical and electrical structures and components including towers, terminals, machine rooms, carriers, chairs, gondolas, tramway cabins, control rooms, and operator buildings. We have installed machinery in the harshest weather, in both the extreme heat and the bitter cold.

Highlander has built lifts in ecologically sensitive areas in both the high alpine and in the wetlands working within the strictest operating practices enforced by the US Forest Service, Parks Canada, and rainforest preservation societies. Highlander has carried out installation projects on top of the snow to avoid any contact with the underlying vegetation and has also built lifts with no road access using helicopters not only for tower installations but also for assembling terminals. As an example, in 2001, Highlander built a six-person detachable chairlift in Banff National Park using a Russian heavy-lift helicopter. The construction crew walked to the top every day.
